General League Information

 

Where and When:

Tam O'Shanter Golf Course, Tuesday evenings, 4:30 — 6:00 pm

Greens Fees:  $12 walking, additional $5 for riding cart

Starting and Ending Dates:

Practice Rounds:  April 20 and April 27 — new players must play both to establish a handicap.
First Week of League Play:  May 4
Hot Dog Fun Night:  June 15 (this date is tentative)
Last Week of First Half:  June 29
First Week of Second Half:  July 6
Last Week of Season:  August 31
League Outing:  September 19 (Sunday) — details and location to be announced later this summer.

Golf League Weekly Events

 

League Match Play:

Every player will be assigned to a flight, ranked by handicap — there will be approximately 6 to 8 players per flight.  Each week you will compete in a 9-hole match against ALL of the other players in your flight. The winner of each match will be determined by MATCH PLAY (your net score on each hole compared to the net score of your opponent), with each match worth one point. Total points earned during each half of league competition will determine prize winners for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place within each flight.

Golf-Outs:

If you cannot play on league night in any week, please GOLF OUT.  All golf-outs must be completed by the Saturday following the league night that was missed.  Leave your scorecard in Tam O'Shanter's golf-out box.  Be sure to play the correct nine (front or back) and to sign the league book.  You may also bank golf-out scores anytime.  Mark the card “Golf-out” and put the date on it.  Banked golf-outs will be used in reverse-date order — most recent posted golf-out score for the nine played that week will be used.

Skins Game:

There will be a Skins Game each week with separate prize pools for men and women.  The Skins Game uses gross scores only (no handicap used for skins).  We won't have prepaid skins this year; to participate in the Skins Game, you can put $2 into the skins box before your round.  Please sign the skins sheet at the front counter each week.  Golf outs will not count for skins.

Eagles Club:

To participate in this optional league competition, you must pay an additional $18 along with your dues money (that’s $1 per week).  We'll keep track of all gross eagles made by members of the Eagles Club throughout the season, and at the end of the year, the Eagles' Club pot will be split as many ways as there are eagles. Golf outs will not count for the Eagles Club.

Weekly Fun Events:

We’ll offer a weekly contest for a great prize — a $12 gift certificate to Tam O’Shanter — that's equal to one nine-hole greens fee!  So there's a free round of golf up for grabs each week!  You will play your normal game each week for league points and skins; the fun event is an extra game that will be worked out after the round is completed.  Ties in a Weekly Fun Event will be broken by league handicap — higher handicap wins.  Some of these events favor the lower handicappers, while others favor higher handicappers; so everyone can get in on the fun!  Here are some ideas for the weekly fun events (dates subject to change):

June 22:	Most balls in the trees!	Aug 24:	Stableford Tournament

League Rules of Play

 

Maximum Score per Hole:

Maximum score on any hole is 3 TIMES PAR.  Pick up after this many strokes on a hole.  You can take an X on any hole without losing your matches, because that's just one hole, and under Match Play you can still win a match with X's on holes.

Touching the Ball in Play (adjusting your lie):

NO FLUFFING OR SETTING UP the ball in the rough or around the green is permitted!  You may improve your lie in your OWN FAIRWAY ONLY!  A violation of this rule will result in a score of X on the hole where the violation occurs.

Gimme Putts:

All putts should be holed out.  To speed play, if a ball ends up "within the leather" (8 inches or less from the hole), the putt may be given to the player if all the other players in the group agree.  However, if a player is competing in the Skins Game, no putt for a score of par or better should be conceded/given!

Rain-outs:

Rainouts will be designated by Tam O'Shanter course personnel.  If 50% of all the members of the league turn in scores for that day (including golf-outs), then it is considered a valid round for the league.

Dues/Fees

 

Regular League Dues:

$65.00 → the dues will cover prizes, hot dog fun night, our end-of-year outing, and if money is left, a portion of our annual Christmas Party.

Eagles Club:

$18.00 → in addition to the normal league dues.
